MEX Instant Water Heaters

Warm stays warm No cold surprises

Mid-shampoo, someone opens a tap down the hall, and cold water hits your back. A flow sensor holds the temperature right where you set it

If two bathrooms run at once in your house, you know

You get the temperature just right, then the pressure drops a little and the water turns cold on you… so ours holds it and stays steady The room you use every day should not be one you gamble on.

MEX Instant Water Heater - 5 series design showcase
MEX instant water heaters · 5 series

Pick a series, then see the colour it really comes in

All five carry the same safety package. What changes is the face of it, how you set the temperature, and what comes in the box.

CRYSTAL

One unbroken sheet of glass, and a number that means something

The front is a single piece with no seam, so the only thing to look at is the digital pad. Set it anywhere from 32 to 48 °C and read the number back, instead of guessing from where a dial points.

Heater tank = the part that decides the lifespan
Inside the heater tank

The part MEX backs for five years is the one you never see

Water does not run straight past the element and out again. It follows a spiral path through a copper heater tank, so it stays in contact with the heat for longer and copper moves that heat into the water rather than holding it. That is the part MEX warrants for five years, against two years on the rest of the unit — and it is why the temperature holds instead of drifting while you are still under the shower.

the leak that trips the breaker, cut within 0.1 seconds

Electricity and water, one box

A leak of 15 milliamps and the power is gone in a tenth of a second

Every MEX instant water heater carries an ELCB — an earth leakage circuit breaker that watches the current going in against the current coming back. The moment 15 milliamps goes missing, it drops the supply within 0.1 seconds, faster than you would feel anything. A safety thermostat sits behind it and cuts the machine out if the water ever runs abnormally hot. On CRYSTAL and CRAVE the ELCB carries a test bar, so you can press it once a month and see for yourself that it still trips.

Certified, not self-declared

A German inspection body signs off every model, to IEC standard

TÜV SÜD is an independent testing and certification body, and every MEX instant water heater in this range carries its mark against IEC standard — the international rulebook for electrical appliance safety. In Thailand the same units are certified to TIS 1693-2547, and they have passed the efficiency test set by EGAT and the Ministry of Energy that earns the number 5 energy label. Behind all three, MEX warrants the unit for two years and the heater tank for five.

CRAVE

Set the temperature on a screen, and it stays where you left it

CRAVE is the truly digital one. An LED display shows the setting, Rapid Preheat gets the water warm without the wait at the start, and Electronic Temperature Control holds it there instead of letting it drift. The water side and the electrical side are built as separate modules, the housing is sealed ABS to IP25, and the ELCB Advance carries a test bar. If something is wrong it tells you which thing, with error codes E1 to E6 on the same screen. Two variants, 3,500 and 4,500 watts, in Sapphire Black or Moonlight Silver.

Frequently asked questions

How do the six series differ
Take them from the top. CRYSTAL has digital control from 32 to 48 degrees and a 5-step shower head, at THB 6,990 to 7,590.-. CRAVE is the LED digital one with Rapid Preheat and an IP25 rating, THB 5,690 to 6,090.-. CUBE is the minimal one with a chrome 5-step head, THB 5,690 to 6,590.-. CODE won a Demark Design Excellence Award in 2013 and uses a 3-step head, THB 4,790 to 5,490.-. COCO is the rounded compact one, THB 3,690 to 4,190.-, and COCO S is the space-saving minimal one at THB 2,390 to 2,690.-
What is the difference between 3,500 and 5,100 watts
It comes down to current draw and the cable you have to run. A 3,500 watt unit draws 15.91 amps and takes 3 x 2.5 sq mm THW cable. A 4,500 watt unit draws 20.45 amps and a 5,100 watt unit draws 23.18 amps, both on 3 x 4.0 sq mm THW. Water flow is the same across the category at 3.5 litres a minute, and minimum inlet pressure is 0.2 bar throughout. Have an electrician check the cable and breaker in your house before you settle on a wattage. Call 02-493-6565 if you want help.
What do I need in place before installing
Three things at minimum: cable sized to the wattage you choose, per the figures in the previous answer, an earth connection, and a breaker. The catalogue states those last two directly for the CRAVE and CODE series. On water, every model starts working at 0.2 bar, which is very light, so a house with weak pressure can still use one. The catalogue does not give a mounting height or clearance, so follow the manual and your installer. Call a service centre before buying if you are unsure.
How long is the warranty, who do I call
The catalogue pages for this category do not print any warranty terms, so we will not quote a number here. Ask a service centre or the dealer about the model you have in mind before you buy. What the catalogue does state clearly is that every series carries international safety certification from TÜV SÜD and an ELCB against earth leakage. If a unit shows an error code, will not power up, or will not heat, do not open it yourself, contact a service centre. MEX has service centres nationwide on 02-493-6565.
