A new-design brass burner, two-tier flame on both burners
The V7812MHR runs the new-design LOTUS FLAME brass burner, giving a two-tier flame at 4,800 W on both burners, set on a Strong Fiber Mesh tempered-glass top with all four edges bevelled, and backed by a heat reflector plate that raises efficiency. A two-tier flame spreads heat wider than a single ring, and with both burners rated the same there is no weak side: any pan goes on either burner and gets the same heat.
The 4,800 W figure belongs to the V7812MHR. Other models in the category use different burners at different ratings, so check the spec of the model you are buying.
Turn it down by running the inner ring on its own
A multi-ring gas burner is not adjusted by the dial alone; on some models you choose which ring lights. The PC4682X can run the inner flame ring on its own, or both rings together. The use is direct. For a simmer or a gentle reheat, one inner ring. For hard stir-frying, both. The PC4682X is a table-top hob with a stainless top and titanium burners at 4,400 W on both sides.
The inner-ring-only setting belongs to the PC4682X, a table-top hob. Other models in the category use different burners and flame systems, so check the spec of the model you are buying.
Three rings of flame, the strongest burner in the gas-hob range
Gas burners are described by how many rings of flame they carry. Most are two rings or two tiers, and exactly one carries three rings: the PC8372GB, a table-top gas hob in Dark Metallic Grey with two brass burners rated 5,200 W on both sides, the highest rating in the gas-hob range. Steel body, matt-black coated steel pan support, Piezo automatic ignition. More rings spread heat more evenly under a large pan.
The three-ring burner at 5,200 W belongs to the PC8372GB, a table-top hob. Built-in models use a two-tier burner at a different rating, so check the spec of the model you are buying.
A plate under the burner that sends heat back up to the pan
Not all the heat a burner makes travels upward; some of it spreads down and out to the sides. A heat reflector plate sits beneath the burner and turns that share back toward the base of the pan, which raises efficiency. Two models carry it: the V3772MHR with its extra-high output of 5,000 W on both burners, and the V7812MHR with the LOTUS FLAME burner at 4,800 W on both.
The heat reflector plate is fitted on the V3772MHR and the V7812MHR, not across the whole category, so check the spec of the model you are buying.
Burner material differs from model to model
The burner takes the flame directly, every day, and its material differs from model to model. All four built-in gas hobs, the V3772MHR, V7812MHR, V4731M and MX472M, use high-quality brass with a two-tier flame at 4,800 to 5,000 W on both burners. Table-top brass comes black-coated, gunmetal or Matte Silver coated at 3,400 to 3,800 W. Not every burner here is brass, though: titanium runs at 4,400 W on the PC4682X, PC4311X, PCM1608 and PCM1605, and infrared is a separate group at 3,000 W.
Burner material is specified per model. Brass, titanium and infrared are three separate groups, so check the spec of the model you are buying.
